Car Rental Prices in Cebu: Real Rates & What's Included
"How much does a rental car actually cost in Cebu?" is the question we get asked most. The honest answer depends on the vehicle and how long you're renting for — and the per-day rate drops automatically the longer you commit. This is the real price guide, using our actual fleet rates — no marketing spin.
Our Real Fleet & Daily Rates
DriveLink runs a small, well-maintained fleet — two self-drive sedans and one automatic scooter. Here's exactly what each one costs:
| Vehicle | Engine | Daily Rate (1–6d) | 7–27 Days | 28+ Days |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Toyota Vios 1.3E | 1.3L, automatic, 5-seater | ₱1,499/day | ₱1,299/day | ₱1,099/day |
| Mitsubishi Mirage G4 GLX | 1.2L, automatic, 5-seater, fuel-efficient | ₱1,499/day | ₱1,299/day | ₱1,099/day |
| Yamaha NMAX V3 Turbo | 155cc, automatic scooter | ₱900/day | ₱900/day | ₱900/day |
Note the scooter's rate is flat — no discount for longer bookings, since running costs stay proportionally similar. The sedans get a genuinely lower per-day rate the longer you keep them, which is where most of the savings on a longer stay come from.
What's Actually Included (and What's Not)
This is where budget rentals often catch tourists off guard. At DriveLink, every rental includes:
- Basic insuranceCovers third-party liability. If the unexpected happens, you're not paying alone.
- DeliveryTo your hotel, Mactan Airport, or any address in our service area (fee applies by location).
- Full tank on pickupReturn the vehicle with the same fuel level it had at pickup.
- 24/7 WhatsApp supportIf anything comes up, we're available all day and night.
- Helmet & phone holderIncluded free for scooter rentals only.
- Free carwashIncluded for the scooter. Sedans have a ₱300 carwash fee on return if needed.
Reservation Fee & Deposit: What to Expect
Every DriveLink booking — sedan or scooter — requires a ₱500 reservation fee to lock in the dates. This fee is non-refundable if you cancel, so only book dates you're confident about. Sedans additionally require a ₱1,000 security deposit; the scooter has no separate deposit requirement.
Additional Fees to Know About
- Peak/holiday rateSedans ₱1,800/day, scooter ₱1,000/day during peak season and public holidays.
- Overtime₱150/hour if you return the sedan later than agreed — not charged on the scooter.
- Carwash (sedans only)₱300 if the car needs washing on return. Free on the scooter.
Watch out for unusually cheap "₱500/day sedan" ads from informal operators. The cheapest street rentals often have no real insurance, no written contract, and no support if something goes wrong. A transparent, slightly higher price from a legitimate company is genuine value — and protects you if you're in an accident.
Car Rental vs Daily Grab in Cebu: The Real Cost
Let's compare what most travellers actually spend on transport in Cebu over a typical 7-day stay:
| Transport Option | 7-Day Cost (estimate) | Flexibility |
|---|---|---|
| Daily Grab (2 trips/day avg) | ₱4,200–5,600 | Depends on driver availability |
| DriveLink sedan (7 days) | ₱9,093 (₱1,299/day) | Full freedom, anytime, room for luggage & passengers |
| DriveLink scooter (7 days) | ₱6,300 (₱900/day flat) | Full freedom, cheapest self-drive option |
A car costs more than daily Grab over a week, but you get unlimited trips, no waiting for driver availability, and the ability to explore beyond where Grab drivers are willing to go. For solo travellers on a tighter budget, the scooter beats Grab outright on both price and freedom.
